Capitol Development completed.

Capitol Development awarded to Shimizu Corporation.
SLA reported the development of Capitol Theatre, Building, Centre and Stamford House.

STB took over the 2 buildings to develop future plans.
1998
The Namazie Family commissioned Capitol Theatre to be built in Singapore.
1930
Capitol Theatre officially opened with musical comedy film, Rio Rita.
1929
1939
Capitol Theatre was refurbished with upholstered seats, air-conditioning and redesigned vestibule.
1942
Japanese took over during the Japanese Occupation and operated as Kyo-Ei Gekkyo to air Japanese films and as a food depot.
1944
A bomb exploded and destroyed parts of the theatre causing the Japanese to cease operations.
1984
Government acquired Capitol Theatre and Shaw Building with Shaw Organisation as lessee.
Capitol Theatre screened its last film, Soldier, and ceased operations as a movie theatre.
1992
Restoration works began.
Shaw Building and Capitol Theatre were gazetted for preservation by the URA.
1983

Capitol Theatre functioned as Singapore's premier theatre.
1978
Shaw Organisation put Shaw Building and Capitol Theatre up for sale.
1948
Shaw Organisation
rebuilt damaged parts of Shaw Building and the theatre.
1946
Shaw Organisation bought Capitol Theatre and Namazie Mansions which was renamed to Shaw Buildings.
